Pros

- Great emphasis on collaboration and teamwork -As a result, few "silos" or "empires" -Many opportunities and variety of work; the barriers to working in a different group or project are lower than normal -Check out Lam's "Core Values"; they are generally practiced pretty well; nice environment to work. -Compensation and benefits seem in upper quartile. Perks are decreasing; those seem to be outsourced now.

Cons

-It's a semiconductor business, hence intense: faster, cheaper, faster, more efficient, did I mention faster? It's a global 24/7 operation. If you have trouble with 7am or 7pm meetings to accommodate folks in other time zones/days on the earth, it's rough. -If you don't find other languages and cultures interesting, it's rough. I joke it is like working at the United Nations. -Work-Life balance is a recognized struggle that corporate is trying to keep in balance. -If you don't have an advanced college degree, there's a little "degree snobbery". Folks are working on it.

Pros

Opportunities to support global activities

Cons

Heavy micromanagement — frequent revisions on ppt to minor details like font size and colors. Frequently calling staffs even after work hours and lunch time. Manager often takes on additional work from other teams without considering current team workload, So the manager appears supportive and “nice” externally but creates additional burden to the subordinates. Manager controls team budget strictly for team-building activities (events and meals), team members feel restrictive and reluctant to participate, for example team members dare not order appetizers, dessert or drinks on top of entrees during team events. Manager used up most of the travel budget. Biz trip and personal travel boundaries are unclear, especially when manager frequently has business trips overlaps with personal travel. Seems like manager using biz trip to get free hotel and free air tickets for PTO.
