Pros

They help you get your CDA and pay for it. The training is paid. There are many different divisions in the company to help the families of the children you teach outside of just educating children. The few good employees were genuine and caring, putting the children and their family's wellbeing above all else.

Cons

Some people just starting out with no experience would make just as much as someone who has been working there for years. The pay is a lot lower than other facilities in the area. The supervisors would pick favorites and they would get away with not doing their job properly or not following the rules properly. They hid a lot of things from the parents and most of the staff were unprofessional, talking about families or the children behind their back instead of helping them succeed. There were very few employees that actually were there for their love of children and didn't get caught up in the drama between other employees. They were always short staffed and had to pull teachers out of different classrooms and place them in other classrooms that they were unfamiliar with just to make sure there was an appropriate child to staff ratio just in case state walked in.

Pros

The staff are very competent while doing their level best to ensure that you are successful in your endeavors. There is no stupid question, no question to trivial that will not be handled in a professional manner without feeling that you are incompetent. It is a very professional and welcoming environment and you walk away feeling that you have accomplished something in your area and making a difference in your community.

Cons

There is only funding for a part-time position.

Pros

I have never work in community based social services but this organization has given me a great introduction to this sector. I’ve learned a lot and have grown quickly. I was hired in December as an intake coordinator (an entry level position) and by March (3 months later), I was promoted to a Case Manager. Also, management doesn’t micromanage . There is a lot of freedom, great work/life balance and opportunities for growth.

Cons

Low pay, minimal training, and high caseloads.
