Pros

They are a fast growing e-commerce business ran by a female CEO and husband, the CFO. They have a good product that they sell which is accounting to small to medium sized businesses. They offer moms and women part-time jobs with flexibility throughout the day. They offer the few full time people full benefits. PTO paid at 25-28 hours. Fully remote.

Cons

I should have listened to my gut when they wanted me to undergo a three hour long test and several interviews. There were several red flags. One was asking what my schedule would be and what my responsibilities would be. No paid holidays. Extreme big brother using Harvest time app that tracks your "productivity" and every move. There is little trust at this company. When you are training you are being rated for your performance. There wasn't a lot of help during training and I lacked guidance. If you aren't smiling and responding during meetings, you will be judged as being non-engaged so not good for introverts or anyone with anxiety disorder. They only want you to work part-time with full-time availability throughout the day for calls and emails. You have to work 5 days a week and minimum of 3 hours a day. None of this was discussed before working. I didn't even know what my actual job duties were which changed significantly during my training process. After being left on week 3 while still training, when my manager went out of town, they accused me of not working proficiently. I did everything asked of me. I felt forced to quit or undergo humiliating performance reviews. I was supposed to be in sales but required to delve deeply into accounting analytics, prepare proposals, handle information calls and write bogs in my spare time. This job caters to the stay at home mom with kids that needs to stop and start her time clock several times throughout the day. If you worked in an office you wouldn't be starting and stopping a clock every time you got up to get a drink, talk to a co-worker either. There are also A LOT of meetings. I lasted three weeks before I was forced out. No benefits for part-time or paid holidays for anyone. Unprofessional with kids running in and out of meetings constantly or background family noise.

LedgerGurus Response

We try very hard to have a successful employee experience at LedgerGurus. Despite our best efforts the reality is that remote, part-time work is not for everyone. We care a lot about our culture and therefore have a hiring process put in place to make sure everyone has the skill set we need for our positions. We do measure performance from day one and when someone isn’t a fit, we try to correct things quickly. We want people to be successful and happy in their position and working somewhere they don’t enjoy does not help the employer or the employee. We do offer a lot of flexibility in our daily schedules but with a customer-facing role, consistent availability during business hours is critical. By law, we are required to track part-time employees’ work so they can be paid their hourly rate. We do have many working parents and respect that children or pets may be around during internal meetings because of our remote nature. We also offer PTO for part-time employees and our full-time employees do enjoy paid holidays as well as a generous PTO package. Other benefits for part-time employees include a 401K with match, FSA, DCFSA, profit sharing and more. We always feel bad when an employee isn’t successful here and are constantly striving to make the employee experience better for all current and future employees.

Pros

Ledgergurus was a great company to work for. They were flexible with my time needs and the team I worked with was the most fun in the whole company. I was able to grow with my skills and knowledge in sales tax working with Ledgergurus. Everyone is willing to help and solve problems.

Cons

Lots of deadlines and moving parts. Once you get the swing of things and understand the process, you'll be great.

Pros

All employees work remotely and the company provides a computer. Employees get to set their own schedules (for the most part).

Cons

Often not enough work. Hourly employees only get paid for active work time and have to track everything they do to the minute which means that even though the company wants them to be available, they don't get paid for it. There are not very many opportunities to move around and even less opportunities to move up. Those few who did get promoted must have been friends with the decision makers because their records were terrible. Because everyone works remotely it is hard for those in charge to actually know what you do and if you do it well. It is easy for others to take credit for your work. Low pay and very few holidays off. Little training. You are just expected to know how to do something which means that often employees are not completing jobs correctly but there is little help. Little room for employees to actually learn and grow.
