Pros

- potential under the right leadership - the old guard are still keeping the ship afloat

Cons

- unethical leaderwship (IT) - the new IT leadership don't understand the business and are only there to push their own agendas such as outsourcing certain critical department functions to their friends in Stellenbosch. - the character of the new IT leadership is questionable (Machiavellian), They will blatantly lie and deceive to push their agendas. - the leadership are not making decisions in the best interest of the business but rather to suit their agendas and maneuver themselves by any means possible. - Overly focused on agile, if anything, things are less agile than before. The focus has become on agile ceremonies and rituals and they are essentially using agile to do waterfall, there is no iteration\prototyping. (Agile has its place and its mostly suited for companies that exclusively develop new products in an iterative rapid prototyping manner. The issue is that most banks and corporations have to support existing business functions on top of developing new products and agile does not suit such scenarios) - bloated (top heavy) not lean - there are a lot of organized theatrics\smoke and mirrors events intended to distract and befuddle - they keep boasting about all the changes they have made but the business is still the same, the focus is still on grant recipients despite all the talks from the IT exec - the ship keeps changing its course never reaching any destination set for it - the tech, the systems and the people that keep the business churning are the old guard - bloated from a management perspective (scrum masters etc.) - spend has increased and the return has not - the new leadership dont understand the business and dont know whats best for it - as mentioned before there is too much focus and spend on agile, they have hired many scrum masters who are mostly people who barely scraped through school and got some 2 week certificate in scrum\agile. To add to this, these scrum "masters" act like managers....nothing worse than people who have no idea about anything managing specialized technical teams. You are spending a lot of money on people who offer little value. What do scrum masters do when the morning standup is over? - this business wont be able to sustain itself on its current trajectory - I assume they lie to the board\investors and about their accomplishments to get funding but eventually they will have to bring the receipts and wont be able to deflect blame anymore, and then they will jump to the next ship to sink while looting - lots of promises about the future but not realistic imo and they keep changing the goal posts - leadership play a lot of lip service to values and ethics but their actions say otherwise. "Dont be a " or "play the ball not the man" is something they will say while being and playing the man instead of the ball. Unless things change, spare yourself from this place.
