Pros
Lethbridge College is a pretty good employer for Lethbridge, however it’s a very traditional workplace. Workers are part of the AUPE union. Benefits are some of the best the city offers. Generally, this is a good employer and finding a gig here is solid.
Cons
Wages are stupid low, and positions are scaled improperly across departments. Cost-of-living raises are non-existent. Expect cubicles and arbitrary top-down management styles. The organizational structure is divided into departments with poor communications and competing goals. Trust is low for employees, and decisions which on the surface-level feel democratic are dictated at the end of the day; they are non evidence- based and ponder to internal politics. I'd argue there are plenty of power grabs. Management itself is typically pulled internally or from traditional post-secondary pools, so don't expect leaders to know or understand technology/culture or the real world as it stands today, let alone be thought leaders. I hate to be ageist, but they are old in both age and thinking in general. The current president has failed several non-confidence votes from faculty, and gets paid very handsomely regardless.
