Pros

The people at LifeLabs are diverse, unique, and intelligent. You can truly be your authentic self, and until recently, the company culture was top-notch. They've always done a good job of soliciting feedback from the staff. Work-life balance was always respected (although, after the recent layoffs, that could change).

Cons

Unfortunately, the company fell victim to being complacent and reactive rather than proactive. Until the company has better predictive data and develops stronger footholds in more recession-proof markets (which is going to take some time), the state of the company will always be in flux, with little certainty. As other posters have mentioned, the company went from "Everything is great!” to “We have to do mass layoffs” within a 3-month period. External factors do not cause a company to drastically reduce its size—a lack of foresight and planning does. Although we were told that the company would do everything in its power to keep people employed, it soon became apparent that this was not the case. There was also a lack of full transparency about the criteria for layoffs, with explanations often being vague. Although leadership did (eventually) take ownership of their mistakes, it was too little too late for those they laid off. I would expect this from other businesses, but I expected more from LifeLabs. This no longer feels like the same company that I initially joined, whether in values or size.

Thank you for sharing your perspective and feedback. We acknowledge that there was an abrupt pivot with our restructure and reduction in workforce due to both economic changes and our own decisions to hire for growth earlier this year. We are learning from this experience and will be implementing changes to our own planning process. We take full responsibility for our mistakes and are deeply regretful and sorry for the impact this had on the team. We are constantly mindful of work-life balance of our team members, and this will not change ahead. We are dedicated to this rebuild and have conducted listening tours and surveys to pull for feedback to guide our path forward.

Pros

I've been at LifeLabs for several years, and I have loved the autonomy, commitment to values (not just words here), amazing people (smart and funny and kind - what more could you want?), and growth and learning opportunities I've found at LifeLabs. There's a lot of room for people to make stuff happen - and on the Sales team specifically, self-motivated, driven, and #AlwaysBeLearning-oriented folks are appreciated! I'm also excited about some of the recent investments we've made in bringing in tech that will help people do their jobs (Gong, outside sales training, etc.) While we have a lot of internal expertise, it's making it a lot easier for us to be effective when we can utilize best-in-class tech and learning!

Cons

Less of a con and just more two things to be aware of: 1) Change is a constant here. Even though LifeLabs has been around for more than 10 years, it operates as a startup in many ways. New systems and processes are coming often, so needing to do things the same way all the time doesn't really fly here. 2) Not every role at LifeLabs is designed to be a "lifetime role." The upside of a great culture is retention - people want to stay! The downside is that sometimes roles don't shift to continue responding to the evolving needs of individuals - LifeLabs is a place where you can be happy for years (like I have), but the two majority roles we have (sales and facilitation) don't see a ton of role evolution, so being willing to accept that is important to overall satisfaction.
