Pros

Culture and people: This is by far the biggest pro about the company. The culture is very open and collaborative. Everyone is very friendly and always happy to help. With their growth, this did seem to be changing though. Everyone was still open, however the environment is transitioning to a more standard corporate feel and the team building events that were common when it was smaller are mostly gone. Good opportunities for new titles: Since the company is still fairly small, it doesn't take much to stand out. That can easily be leveraged into a new tier position (e.g. Junior->Senior), just don't expect that to come on it's own. It's pretty much a requirement to ask for it, as no one in management seems to offer, no matter how good you are at your job. Actual change opportunities, with extra responsibilities, etc. are extremely rare.

Cons

Outdated Technology: Developers spend 90% of their time in VBScript on a system that no one in software has ever heard of, from 20+ years ago. The work is usually uninteresting and the only real challenge is trying to put in band-aids that don't break other band-aids, because no one is allowed to change preexisting pieces unless they are visually broken (errors are always suppressed). Management is very against changing their tech, despite more modern options and the desperate need for actual architecture. There is some rare opportunities to work in C# but, since they refuse to get licenses for all of the developers, this is only something the more senior people on the team are allowed to do. This can make it very frustrating both for day-to-day development work and for career growth; It takes 20 minutes to try to explain the work and system and no one wants experienced VBScript developers. No Understand of Coding Practices: There is no understanding, attempt to understand, or respecting even remotely good coding policies. Security protocols, data verification, and proper testing are just a few of the things thrown by the wayside. There is little appreciation given to developers and what they do. Terrible communication: Management is notoriously awful at actually talking to anyone. Info about projects was often held back until a few days before they were due, work that needed review was often ignored for months until a last minute panic, decisions affecting everyone were made with no announcement, meetings were scheduled and then ignored, and it was pretty common that no managers could even be found in order to ask questions or figure out what was happening.
