Pros

You'll get paid to get trained for the job, learn some new skill sets (like how to work with kids for example), and hours are relatively flexible (esp during the school year, not so much during summers). Decent benefits as well. It's a great place to start off your career (up to you how much you want to get promoted/how much you want to deal with things the higher up the chain you go). You also get to positively impact a child's future by either helping them learn how to read, comprehend what they're reading, or help them understand math better.

Cons

- Disconnect between upper management and employees who actually work with students - Pay is just high enough to keep you from leaving, but not high enough to prevent burnout - Poor communication - Busy summers - Very robotic/rigid, lack of creativity (very much "we've always done things this way and we'll continue doing things this way") - Participation trophy culture (more so how kids are treated... the focus is more on rewards rather than teaching them actual accountability) - At times, you'll be thrown into situations that you weren't trained for and expected to figure it out (with little to no support from management)

Pros

It’s great to try to help people, but…

Cons

They’re so set on their particular philosophical style, but realistically, it cannot be one size fits all. Clinicians who work there are NOT experts; they only get two weeks of training. And the sessions are extremely tight, with back-to-back students (just five minutes between each, leaving no time to prepare for the next one and no chance for clinicians to catch a breath). Lessons take place in cramped, mostly shared spaces, so everyone tends to be over-stressed. There’s no way that what is taught there, and the environment in which it’s taught, is worth what they’re charging families. Not to mention that the staff break room is like the size of a closet, and even in that tight space, many people just aren’t very friendly and hardly acknowledge your presence.
