Pros

Intense, dynamic work environment. Great for your resume. You WILL learn a lot about accounting and excel! Good environment for obtaining your CPA. Lots of free food.

Cons

Terrible management; emphasis is on the company, not the employee. No compassion. The pay is WAY below market or what is deserved for the work performed. Don't be fooled by the fancy building, the cool culture, or the Fortune 500 status; you are not treated like a Fortune 500 employee. The company runs on recent graduates who don't know any better and don't last because of the stress and lack of pay. The department also runs understaffed deliberately. These are cost saving techniques to maintain their lean overhead and low profit margin. The health benefits package is wildly expensive, especially if you have dependents. Accountants are required to work many additional hours with no overtime pay. Many employees stay at work past 10:00 pm regularly. Managers and Supervisors are manipulative, cold, and miserable themselves. It seems to be a trickle-down effect from the CFO and/or Comptroller. Supervisors and managers possess no personal or managerial skills. Only technical. The company experiences extreme turnover due to harsh work environments., putting more strain on existing employees. Either the executive team makes acquisition decisions without considering the impact on the accounting department's workload, or the Comptroller shields the executive team from the reality. The end result is excessively overworked employees. This place will kill your soul.

Pros

Strong exposure to real business data from automotive sales, finance, inventory, and customer operations. Opportunity to work on high-impact analytics that directly affect dealership performance and revenue. Large-scale company with many datasets and business units, which is good for learning business intelligence and predictive analytics. Growing digital transformation initiatives can provide opportunities to work with modern analytics tools and automation.

Cons

Legacy systems and fragmented data sources may make data cleaning and integration challenging. Traditional corporate structure can sometimes slow down decision-making or the implementation of data-driven ideas. Work may lean more toward reporting/dashboarding than advanced machine learning, depending on the team. Stakeholders may prioritize quick operational insights over long-term data science experimentation. A high-pressure retail environment can lead to tight deadlines and rapidly changing priorities.
