Pros
- Working toward a mission of ocean conservation is rewarding - The volunteers are kind and passionate - Peers/co-workers are great. Everyone shares a love for the ocean - Seeing the sea turtles get released
Cons
- Some folks on the leadership team make decisions based on feeling or ego rather than data or the expertise of their staff – even though those staff are hired to do a specific job function - No room for growth in career, even if you exceed annual goals. It's an common symptom of many nonprofits - You will likely not be paid competitively or even a respectable salary – but the pressure from senior leadership is that you're in a "24/7 job". It's very unfortunate they treat employees this way – and has resulted in high turnover - No clear direction of implementing the organization's vision; they have a small staff working nearly to exhaustion on a laundry list of programming, initiatives, and annual events
