Cons

Work Life balance does not exist as they will have you working all hours of the day and night and even weekends even if your job is only Monday to Friday (No overtime pay is even given for this). Holidays are incorrectly advertised and portrayed Bad Management from Managing Director down, as long as his pockets are lined you will just be another number. Office is just constant bickering wars You have to fill out timesheets for every activity you carry out in the day as if you do not complete this you will not be paid. (even though it is office based, it's 2021... seriously?!)

Long O Donnell Associates Response

Thank you for your comments. I am sorry that you left Long O Donnell feeling this way. We ask all our staff who decide to move on to alternative employment for their reasons and any constructive feedback they wish to provide as part of their exit interview, so it is disappointing that you didn’t share your thoughts/concerns with us either before making the decision to leave or during your exit process so these could be looked in to and addressed as appropriate. With regards to the points you have raised, I do feel we need to clarify a few things: 1.) Work life balance Work life balance is very important to Long O Donnell. It is not uncommon in salaried roles for overtime to not be paid, but at Long O Donnell overtime is not expected either. We actively monitor working hours and if we identify individuals working out of hours or over the weekend, this is raised with their line managers so welfare checks can be completed to understand what has driven this in order to be able to stop this reoccurring. We understand that sometimes client requirements can dictate a little work out of hours but individuals are encouraged to take time back ASAP to ensure they are not working excessive hours. Additionally, in December 2020 we implemented formal flexible working hours to give our employees additional flexibility for their work/life balance. 2.) Holidays Holidays are very clearly explained both at the initial interview stage and within the offer letter and T&Cs, so it is a little unclear of how we are advertising holidays inaccurately. Additionally, at the beginning of the year we increased the annual holiday entitlement for all staff as part of a review with the management team. 3.) Management As a small business all of our staff are very important to us. Our Chief Executive is approachable and maintains an open-door policy should anyone want to get his advice/help and support. He works hard to deliver the high-quality services our client’s expect and asks that all staff employed by Long O Donnell do the same but not to the detriment of their wellbeing. 4.) Culture As a small company, team fit is very important to us as team members work closely with one another on a daily basis. Obviously like any environment there will be times when individuals disagree but this is only natural. Line managers and members of the management team are available to assist should something not be able to resolved by the individuals themselves and we have procedures in place to deal with this should it be appropriate. 5.) Timesheets Timesheets are required from all of our staff for a number of reasons – for our delivery based staff they are used for client information and for non-delivery based staff they are used to review work to ensure future planning for similar activities can be completed correctly. We also use timesheets to monitor working hours and the welfare of or employees and deal with any issues that may be raised as a result as required.
