Pros
Bonding with coworkers because you’re all being treated so poorly. Salary ranges are good but will never be worth it due to the cons.
Cons
Like other reviews mention, those in power are truly corrupt. This was hands down the worst job experience of my career. Staff are severely overworked with no support and expected to answer texts from bosses at all hours of day/night/ weekends. most of your time and bandwidth is taken up dealing with internal toxicity rather than making meaningful contributions to the community. “Leaders” (if we can call them that) at the director lever are power hungry, incompetent, clicky, and truly just unintelligent, insecure, small-minded people. They do not have their teams’ backs, will blame you for ridiculous things, manipulate and gaslight. The residents are horrible with very few exceptions - entitled white supremacists who are too wealthy for their own good. City council members are embarrassingly uninformed on social issues, equity, and any policy or best practice related to their purview. Save your energy and time for somewhere that deserves it and do not work at Los Altos.
