Pros
Nice location near Lake Merritt and manicured roof deck. Toaster oven in break room. Lots of sit / stand desks. Flexible work hours allow for ample personal life* and overtime is paid to employees working on "important" projects. Benefits are good and pay is competitive.
*Flexible work hours brought to you courtesy of lack of management
Cons
The bar is set pretty low for design creativity and work quality; this is a very stressful work environment for anyone with high work ethic and notable background in architecture or interior design as the attention to detail necessary to produce good work is not present in the majority of management. Tasks are regularly double or triple worked due to inefficient standards and opposing preferences between staff.
Most of their "design" work is limited to construction documentation / administration only, as the interiors for most of their projects are designed entirely by either the client or another design firm (which they do not tell you before you're hired).
