Cons
At first the company seems like a great opportunity. Plenty to do and nothing has really been established. Then you get into it and find out that its one emergency after another because they constantly cut corners and occasionally outright lie or create policy to make interested parties think they’re following the rules but they ignore them outright in practice, that includes the FDA, OSHA, CBP, ISO 9001, and several key customers. I saw them constantly lie about the Ankeny warehouse being climate controlled to customers, was told to lie about temperature logs that didn’t exist to food grade customers, was told to ignore temperature readings that a food grade customer said would harm their product, saw hazardous material mixed with food grade materials, and once even had a hazardous chemical spill that went unreported for almost two days and then never did get cleaned up correctly. The chemical residue is still all over that area and the person who did it was a forklift operator who didn’t have a license and after a full month on staff was never trained. They won’t correct the OSHA violations until an OSHA Auditor makes them, stored food products in a warehouse before they had the state license to do it safely/legally, and frequently charge customers for more employees than they use to do the work. I’ve even seen them put employees on jobs they knew would make them quit rather than fire them to avoid paying the unemployment that employee would have otherwise been due. All of their glowing 5 star reviews are because they told the staff that anyone who posted them would be submitted into a money prize raffle, they aren’t sincere and many of the employees who left them are vocal about their discomfort working there. An internal audit showed that their inventory system only matches the physical locations in their main warehouse by 42% and the VP staff decided it was less expensive to ignore it rather than deal with it and several customers are constantly there to perform their own inventories because they know they can’t trust the computer logs. I was there for a year and some change and while I was there the employee turnover rate was something like 34% while the manager turnover rate was about 68% because no one can work with the VP Staff, specifically the Senior VP who has a high school diploma from Mexico and went from being an hourly Customer Service Rep. to being a Vice President of the company after an out of state work trip with the President. The whole thing in the end turned into such a negative experience it really is just a shame to see that they aren’t making money, that they behave the way they do, and they’re blowing all of this awesome potential. Bad experience, I wouldn’t recommend anyone work there and I sincerely hope that the one member of the VP Staff who takes it seriously makes it through alright.
