Pros
- Awesome team. Everyone is great to work with & while we're still figuring things out and growing the business, everyone is willing to jump in and do what they can to find the answers. We also like to have fun together. You'll often here joking and laughing in the office (something I took for granted until work at a previous company). We go out for happy hour and knock back some drinks, perhaps some games of pool or ping pong at the bar every now and then. It's good to really enjoy the people you work with. - Growth mindset. I've worked at a lot of companies where people were fixed in "the way we've always done it". ManagedMethods' leadership team pulls from previous, successful, experience while being open to new ideas & trying new things. Trying something new is scary, and it doesn't always go the way you think it will. But, as long as you learn from it and find solutions, it's the forward movement and growth that matters. The team creates space for us to try new ideas, and that's not something you find everywhere - Effective leadership. I've worked in companies where anyone on the leadership team feels like they can swoop in at any time and tell you how to do your job. This is not the leadership culture at ManagedMethods. Are there last minute projects that need to get done and fires to put out? Yes, of course. That happens anywhere--particularly in a small & growing startup. The big difference is that everyone knows exactly what their purpose on the team is and doesn't try to overpower another team. When there's this culture of mutual purpose & respect, collaboration and innovation become highly effective. - Compensation. Competitive salary with equity. The leadership team believes that when you take good care of your employees, they'll take good care of your company and customers. We do have company subsidized healthcare. It's not free, but the rates are quite low and there are many different options to choose from. - Work/Life balance. We are a small team and a growing startup, so yes, there are times when we work more hours in a day or week. I'm not going to tell you it's a 40/week and go home job. That being said, it's also not a burn and churn company. Leadership expects you to take time off, unplug and regenerate. They encourage you to go home if you've been working late too much. PTO accrual is generous.
Cons
- We just launched our product in 2018 and we're growing like hotcakes. There are some growing pains that can happen with that. Frankly, I think the way we handle these pains are pretty good (nobody is perfect), but it's definitely not for everyone. We all roll up our sleeves and get things done, whether they're part of the job description or not. That can be a really huge con for some people... or if you just happen to be in a grumpy mood that day :-) - No company sponsored 401k or matching
