Pros

The company provides top notch performance opportunities in some of the country's finest venues to musicians of all ages. Truly memorable experiences.

Cons

Incredibly toxic culture. Extremely weak, passive-aggressive leadership. Some of the worst internal communication I’ve ever experienced. The business model hasn't changed in 22 years which is why MCP is eclipsed by its competitors. As a new employee, there was no onboarding process. I literally had to navigate the dysfunction on my own. I witnessed some really shady, questionable business practices. Executive leadership insists on making ALL decisions. There’s no HR manager by design. If there were, there would be way too many HR violations by management to handle. Leadership specializes in micromanagement and has a history of terminating people abruptly and without warning--and without any opportunity for remedy. Because of this, the majority of the staff shows up to work each day thinking it may be their last, which has a devastating effect on morale. Department heads aren't empowered to do anything significant. They're literally treated like administrative assistants. You can always judge a company by how it treats its people during challenging times. During the pandemic, MCP’s treatment of its employees and clients was absolutely abysmal. After years of dedicated service and patronage…zero loyalty…zero integrity. (You can read the Google reviews for yourself.) If you care about your career, don’t waste your time here. You will not grow at all. If you are an ensemble director, there are far better places to spend your money.
