Pros

The employees.Lots of young team members with great dreams and fantastic energy, A great diverse selection of properties placed in some great locations. A good place to start in the Hospitality industry due to the variety of jobs available across the hotel group.

Cons

Among the lowest end of salaries and wages offered in the Hospitality industry. There seem to be a culture of abuse where much is promised to staff but it is never delivered, and this seems to be repeated across most properties in Australia. It is not unusual for staff to be expected to work several shifts for no extra pay, often back to back due to skeleton staff placed across all departments. Staff turnover is excessively high and individual burnout is a sad but far too common outcome across most properties within this group

Pros

Knowledgeable, supportive management Managers put a lot of trust in their teams Flexibility around shifts, including a fairly even rotating roster Team culture was strong in my department - we were all great friends Mantra will invest a lot in your career if you put in the work

Cons

Manning can be a little tight in different departments as wage costs are watched and scrutinized extremely closely Mantra pays per the award, so pay is in line with "average". Other chains do pay slightly higher when on a salary.

Pros

The workmates make the worst days a breeze.

Cons

Where do I start? The roster is a joke. The housekeeping supervisor will roster you on for 6 days straight. We cannot take a break until the rooms are cleaned. The housekeeping supervisor loves going on power trips by glaring at you. She is incredible unprofessional to work with. The number of rooms to be cleaned borders on ridiculous. Staff morale is low and they cannot keep staff...that in itself speaks volumes. The pay is low.
