Pros

Unlimited holiday Nice central office Free snacks

Cons

The company has been going downhill for a while. Internal promotions are rare, with external hires often being favoured over existing employees. There’s little recognition for the work people do, and senior leadership often seem disconnected from what’s happening on the ground. Favouritism is common, and diversity is lacking. Constant restructures and redundancies create uncertainty, making it hard to know where you stand or what the long-term 'strategy' actually is.

Pros

Loads of companies claim to care about their employees but the ELT at Matrix genuinely care. This was demonstrated many times over. There are many policies and mechanisms in place to take care of the people that work for the company. The company aims to hire good, competent people and invests heavily into this pursuit. When you're in, you appreciate that you're part of a select group and are treated accordingly. The commitment to transparency is also amazing, with regular MD updates and an encouragement to voice opinions and ask questions.

Cons

One of the great strengths of a small(er) company is that it can pivot and outmanoeuvre its competitors. The negative side of that, as an employee, is that you have to think quickly on your feet fairly regularly. If you find context switching difficult then this is a challenge and can be unsettling.
