Pros

Maverick is a really special place, it’s full of talent people that genuinely care about each other. Including upper management, which is not the case in every business. People are the best part, but if you love games it’s even more of a pro

Cons

None come to mind .

Pros

Maverick is a small, friendly agency with big ambitions. It’s a brilliant place to work to gain experience, and career progression is actively encouraged, with opportunities and promotion nearly always being offered internally. People rarely just slot into one department – everyone does a bit of everything and gets a real variety of experience. Compared to other companies I’ve worked for, the rewards given to employees was always really generous - good bonus structure, day to day benefits and lots of team nights out, celebrations, and absolutely great company parties. Finally, the employees are a great bunch of people – when you work there, and even after you’ve left, you’re part of the Maverick family.

Cons

Only working across video games, it helps to have a natural interest in this area or you’ll have to work a lot harder to be able to talk about it easily and with competence. If you hate video games, it’s probably not the place for you. It also means the work available is limited, especially as it's quite a competitive marketplace now. As with most creative companies, late nights are regular and work/life balance can be hard.

Pros

It's been fantastic at Maverick since minute 1, they've tripled in size over the last year and I think the management team, especially the Studio Head and HR Manager have done everything in their power to learn from that journey, to actively lead from the top in making positive change and in listening to what staff are saying - while also juggling the expectations of Keywords to boot. Unbelievably friendly team, a culture I've never experienced before, a complete lack of politics, red tape or general inter-office bullshittery - which I could not find more of a welcome change on every level. One of the most positive moves I have made.

Cons

I don't fully understand what everyone does for work everyday in some positions. The acquisition has made it harder to continue growing internal teams especially in specialist areas with growing importance to the studio. Questionable involvement and levels of games industry specific knowledge in Keywords c-suite.
