Pros
- Days go by quickly, never a dull moment - Office atmosphere is comfortable, tight-knit - Chairs have a nice recline
Cons
- On call responsibilities are brutal (especially if you don't have multiple recruiters) - Pay is pretty awful considering 55-60 hours a week, PLUS significant on call responsibilities, which makes long days carry over into the little time you have away from the office - Thankless job (from clients, external employees, and internal employees) - Most days feel like Groundhog Day, as the same issues and problems repeat themselves (a natural and unavoidable consequence of only being able to hire questionable staff due to low external pay rates) - Personal development is minimal - Poor communication from management concerning constant policy changes - Rampant C.Y.A. ("cover your ass"...that's a phrase I learned at Maxim) mentality - For some reason, it is implied that recruiters not take a lunch break and instead stay and eat at their desk. Why this inane policy is in place is beyond me. Not only does that mean recruiters are at their desk 11 straight hours, but it is simply unprofessional to answer phones and talk to employees while eating at your desk. - Ultimately, a very demanding job but not challenging in the slightest...bad combo
