The marketing team in Richmond specifically is utter chaos. Treated like sales support, stereotypical “make this look pretty” work, no actual innovation or growth marketing.
They’ve gone through two “restructures” in the past two years. The leadership team that implemented the previous reorg abandoned the team after they realized the new structure wasn’t working, zero accountability for that huge mistake and complete mismanagement, leaving the rest of the team to deal with the ramifications and try to pick up the pieces. Half of the team was just laid off including people who had been there for 10+ years and relocated for the job. Company loyalty no longer exists. They’re now in the midst of yet another restructure where people have been placed in completely new roles, which was a huge part of the problem with the previous reorg, so they’ve clearly learned nothing.
Feels like you’re filling out an employee opinion survey every quarter, scores were abysmally low (think F, failing grade low) yet nothing was ever actioned on leading to terrible team morale. Extremely petty, toxic work environment because it was clear everyone felt like they were competing to keep their jobs. If anyone ever spoke up with constructive feedback, they were swiftly silenced by their managers and labeled as a problem. They want yes people and paper pushers who keep the status quo, not people who actually want to work and make constructive change. Many, many people on the team privately discussed struggling with mental health after starting at McKesson. People who spoke with managers or HR about this were simply referred to the EAP program.
I could go on and on, but the short of it is: avoid at all costs.
