Pros

Very nice building Up to date programs Can choose between Mac and PC Other employees are generally friendly Weekly paychecks

Cons

"Entry-Level" job, but degree is needed Low pay/salary Some management doesn't quite know how to talk to other employees Management plays favors Family business but tells you there's "a lot of potential to advance" No Art Directors or anything of the sort (No one to give clear direction) Essentially they pray on desperate college graduates looking to start their careers. Go for it if you think your degree is worth about $12 an hour or $25,000 salary.

We thank you for the positive notes that you left about Media Monkey. Unfortunately, you have also made some inaccurate comments about Media Monkey that I feel need to be addressed. As you mentioned in your review you had an entry level position and you thought that your salary was low because of this. Typically within the first 2-3 months of working with Media Monkey we will make sure that the individual’s pay is reflecting their abilities accordingly. An entry level job is the first job that a new graduate takes, upon graduating from college/University and is typically lower paying due to lack of working experience when compared to a position for an individual that has real world experience. The evolution from entry level to experienced is when the candidate has gained some level of experience in the chosen field or profession beyond graduation and shows they are capable of handling additional responsibilities. In the case of an entry position for graphic designer a degree is not required but some form of formal education is favorable. It is true that Media Monkey is a family owned business, but Media Monkey continues to grow. We have always encouraged our employees to strive for their best and grow with the company. We have had many employees that have grown from their starting positions to management and upper management roles. We have had our current Director of Creative working with us for close to 4 years now. She was the person that you were originally introduced to as your go to for questions, suggestions, etc. and that assigned you tasks. As for your concern about formal training, we do not throw a new employee to the wolves. A graphic designer’s training and shadowing typically lasts 3-4 weeks. Your accusation of no formal training leads me to believe that you chose to leave Media Monkey before completing the training program. I am sorry that you did not enjoy your time at Media Monkey. I do wish you best of luck with your future career.

Pros

Lots of experience with branding and print material I taught myself a lot here Gave me the time-span of experience needed for other jobs

Cons

Very low pay (not even close to industry standard) Owners seemed more like they cared more about having power over you vs respecting you as an employee Little to no flexibility with personal issues Benefits aren't good Didn't like employees talking to each other much because they wanted more individual work over teamwork. Overall: Take the job if you are trying to build your resume but then keep looking for something that will pay you what you are worth. This was not a good job but it was a job while I looked for something better. I stayed for too long but it contributed to the designer I am today.

Are you sure you have the right company? None of this is remotely close to the experience that we encourage or experience at Media Monkey and would be considered defamation. Compensation and benefits are right there with industry standards and we thrive on teamwork and ingenuity. We are also incredibly flexible when it comes to our employees personal lives. The Tim that works at Media Monkey is absolutely not a single one of the things you have mentioned. There is simply nothing factual about this review in regards to Media Monkey.
