Terrible CEO, Great Business - Program Manager Meeting Protocol Employee Review

Pros

- Good salary and benefits except PTO which CEO micromanages. - Really nice team in both offices - Potential to travel more after Corona ends - Good business reputation and customers - The other parts of their business are growing very quickly, possible opportunities to advance in other areas once CEO retires. - Probably a great company is you are not a meeting planner, which feels like being a step child with a wicked stepmother who treats the rest of the company like gold.

Cons

- CEO is old and very unwilling to adjust. Constant micro-management of work, getting mad at trivial mistakes and coming up with ways to punish people. - Of the 5 people she has in the Dallas office, 3 are looking for other positions just to get away from her. - Vacation is pretty hard to use if you are a planner - Coronavirus policy is very outdated. Everyone could work safely from home but instead or forced to come in just so technically illiterate owner can walk past you every 20 minutes to see what your doing.

Pros

Some travel, get to keep flight miles. Fast paced at times.

Cons

Small, family owed business. The job is mainly about data entry and shuffling papers. None of their software systems are integrated, making simple tasks tedious and time consuming. The company needs to be more in tune with modern technology and update their antiquated procedures. Too much paper. There is an extensive amount of information to learn and a very weak effort made by upper management to train people. Yet they have extremely high expectations right away. New employees are basically tossed a 200 page, home-made manual (with half the information you need missing) and told to figure it out. Beyond lacking any productive on-boarding program, there is a general air of negativity in the office and condescending attitude from upper management. They tend to give mixed signals and contradictory information. Even though you get to travel some, you work indoors the entire time (14 -15 hrs a day) that you're there and don't get to see the cities at all.
