-Most or all of Executive leadership has only worked at Meltwater
-Since the company has started, they have not adapted to the new market of salary compensation. When they started, they were hiring new grads/inexperienced professionals and paid them accordingly, and with the goals of shaping them to the Meltwater way. If you are a working professional with experience and apply for their Account Management / Sales positions, the base is extremely low . The management team will let you know that your compensation will be made up by your OTE, but this is not the case.
-While some may like a highly driven sales culture, this one here has a special one. This may not be a con, but I'd like to mention that every new sales you make, you ring a bell and the entire office will get together, give high fives, and you tell your success story on the sale.
-Lack of complete transparency in compensation. Any changes in your commissions structure will not be documented - it is told verbally and this causes much confusion and miscomprehension. Many find out later their compensation isn't what they signed up for and they do not like to be transparent because if they were, they would not be able to hire talent as it's quite unfair. Both AMs and Sales commissions here do not set you up for success. Make sure if you are considering the job in Sales or Account Management, you really understand how you will be paid, and get that documented so they cannot turn on their word.
