Great Hospital System for Clinical Staff - Not great for Human Resources - Human Resource Professional Memorial Hermann Health System Employee Review

Pros

Great reputation of the hospital, good branding, talented medical staff, innovative ideas and high standards. Large hospital system that can handle all of the needs that Houston may have. Great Trauma Center, great cancer center, and Life Flight is fantastic!

Cons

Human Resource Leadership (HR Chiefs, Compensation, Employee Relations, Talent Acquisition, Benefits) are ineffective. We need a changing of the guard. Most of this leadership rules by fear and intimidation. Non clinical staff not recognized. High expectations, low rewards, low recognition. No real champion for Talent Acquisition or Human Resources. Middle management has high egos and no substance and can't train their employees because they don't have the skills anymore. HR Chiefs are passive aggressive. Morale is very low within Human Resources and turnover is insane. 360 reviews need to be done on HR leadership and TA Leadership, except Jim G.

Pros

I love my job at Memorial Hermann! The pay is fair, they are understanding as far as life events, and will accommodate as needed. Since it is such a big hospital, there are many opportunities available as well.

Cons

None that I can think of

Pros

Quality care. Patient focused. Room for growth depending on skill but sometimes based on who you know which is a con. Lots of great providers who really care.

Cons

A lot of politics and favortism. People get promoted in leadership that don't deserve it which makes for a miserable experience for those working with them . Some senior leaders are disrespectful, overly demanding, disregard others time and effort, manipulative, aggressive, belittling, don't understand the workload of others, inflict punishment based on their feelings or because they want to, do things for their own benefit and are dishonest.
