Cons
During my latter time at Mentor Collective, leadership quality — rather than strategy, mission, or market conditions — became a significant barrier to retaining talent. Several senior leaders created environments marked by favoritism, inconsistent decision-making, and low psychological safety. As a result, strong, high-performing employees disengaged or left, not because of normal organizational transition, but because of leadership dynamics.
These leadership patterns led to repeated turnover, disruption across teams, and the loss of institutional knowledge during a critical growth period. The impact on morale and execution was noticeable and avoidable.
Recent leadership changes reflect challenges that were visible to staff well before they were addressed structurally.
