Pros
The HR strives to create a pleasant environment ... This is artificial and has an impersonal outcome. For newcomers this seems enough though. Great engineers were still around at the time of my departure. These engineers are the ones who kept this entity breathing during the years. Nothing else!
Cons
During 7 years, previous to acquisition by Mercury, I have seen politics, positions rewarded on loyalty and friendship as opposed to merit. The acquisition only worsened this status quo. I left the company at a point where I considered it completely unsound in its approach. At this point everyone complained about the incompetence of the mid-management and the political noise was deafening. If you are an engineer and want to join this company, think twice! Here is my advice: if you are strong but submitted, if you are fine with an incompetent superior that does not give a rat about the science and good engineering, then this company could be for you. If you dream of changing, innovating, creating and see yourself as high potential then don't join. You will suffer.
