Pros
With a little bit of luck, there may be some improvements with the GE takeover.
Cons
They are keeping virtually all management after the GE takeover. If you want to know about the culture and leadership methods of this company, read on. They reached a new low this week. The CEO of GE came to visit the Roanoke office. Instruction were sent to the working peasants telling them how to behave in the presence of that person. This situation portrays exactly how Meridium feels about its own employees. They think they are an embarrassment to the company. They think we are backwards bumpkins who need to be told how to act when another human comes to the office. One of the instructions was a reasonable request to avoid tying up the elevators. But after that, it was pretty much insulting. We are professionals. But we certainly aren't treated as such. I think HR and management assumed we would all be squabbling about the barnyard, scratching our fannies, and begging for more gruel. Some managers took it upon themselves to 'coach' people even further on how they should behave as if they, the managers, were the only people enlightened enough to understand a situation like the visit of the new CEO. This is about as demeaning as it can get in a 'professional' setting.
