Pros

Great people, from all across the industry with relevant experience Nice work environment, colleagues are generally very helpful and cooperative Some teams function really well Exposure to world class clients, brands & variety of work

Cons

The role of RM actually encompasses 3 distinct roles - research management, client management AND project/field management. This is due to the fact that India runs the field and they are pretty incompetent (due to lack of experience/training, despite all being hard working). India will have you running around in circles trying to cover up their incompetencies and then you're the one faced with telling the client it's all gone to hell in a basket - yet again. In addition, you not only be 'touching' every part of every project you run, you will be literally putting out fires and fixing every part, with zero training or guidance. On top of that, you'll be expected to run at least 5-7 projects at any given time - meaning that you will work 50-56+hrs a week as a norm. No support in terms of expertise, as every research manager/team leader has typically only ran many of the solutions once or twice (making them the 'expert'). You will have no guidance because they have it to give either. It's no wonder that almost every RM is on anti-anxiety meds. Really sad.
