Pros
Pay is fine, full benefits at part time, unionized, secure, retirement fund. Flexible, kind, trusting supervisors. Work is as creative as you want to make it, and the patients couldn't be more appreciative.
Cons
The facilities are severely run down. It's amazing the People of California would allow this level of deterioration. There are rats and mice in our building, the upper floor is uninhabitable, the paint is peeling off. There's just no money for upkeep, not even for janitorial services. (But my office is clean and fine.) Also, the state had a setback during COVID and furloughed us, reducing our work and income by 2 days a month. (But since I'm part time, i just do more of my other jobs on those days.)
