Despite having a great team, the opportunity for growth is low to non-existant. While my role is a supportive one, we are still essential to the day-to-day of the business to keep things operating smoothly and I don't feel that is recognized outside of the department beyond a few kind words here and there. Since working here (5+years) I have seen maybe two promotions that were driven by actual career growth rather than forced reorganization due to departures or other restructuring. Whenever I've brought up what growth looks like in my role here and what I can do to achieve it, my manager will consistently go to bat for me. But is always met with push back from the business for one reason or another.
There has also been a revolving door of positions within the department. And now we are operating with what feels like a bare bones group while lumping multiple job roles on to every member of the team, leading to burnout. At this point the team is stays together simply because we enjoy our immediate coworkers.
