The organization provides exposure across multiple business functions, allowing leaders to build well rounded operational and commercial skill sets. High performance environment that rewards ownership, initiative, and results.

Cons

As a smaller, specialized retailer, organizational growth and upward mobility may take longer compared to larger big-box companies. Resources and infrastructure are still evolving in certain areas, which can require leaders to be more hands-on. High expectations and pace can create pressure during peak periods, requiring strong prioritization and resilience. Some systems and processes have a learning curve, particularly for leaders coming from larger, more standardized organizations.

Pros

I genuinely enjoyed the opportunity to lead and help build a new team from the ground up while managing a wide range of responsibilities. The role allowed me to mentor employees, support their development, and help create a productive, and collaborative work environment. I made a point to lead from the front, working shoulder to shoulder with the team and being actively involved in daily operations. I also valued strong cross-department communication and the opportunity to build positive interpersonal relationships across teams, which supported collaboration and operational success. The experience felt productive, and I appreciated contributing to the store opening and establishing processes early on. I also had positive experiences with business travel, which provided valuable exposure and learning opportunities for me. Also working in a fast-paced environment helped me grow professionally, and many technicians were hardworking and supportive under my leadership.

Cons

Hands on training was minimal for my position. Work-life balance was poor, with the expectation to work 6 days a week during the time leading to the grand opening of the store. Overall, this role was not what I expected with workload expectations for this position. Despite consistently working extra hours and contributing significant effort, recognition from Senior Management felt limited. My position did not qualify for Performance Incentives as multiple other positions did within the company. This was disappointing, especially given the additional hours, stress, and responsibilities during the store's Grand Opening process. With the position not being eligible for performance incentives, it could create challenges when motivating team members who had the opportunity for performance-based incentives themselves.
