Pros
It used to be nice. The founders had an ambitious idea of creating an AI/neuromorphic machine learning research company, developing groundbreaking technology, etc. and everyone was really excited to work there. But then some other people in charge decided that instead of actually developing this groundbreaking technology, it would be easier to just create an impression that the company is (successfully) doing it, and sell it to someone who would believe that it is actually the case. So the founders were removed and a salesman with no clue about the AI was put in charge.
Cons
- creating an impression of having a promising AI technology, rather than actually developing it, is the main goal, so the employees are often bullied into lying about it etc., - loyalty to the CEO is rewarded with meaningless managerial titles, so the company has an equal number of managers and ordinary employees, and so on average, each manager manages exactly one employee, - the office is cluttered like some sort of a tool shed, - employees are actively discouraged from taking holidays, and even if they are on vacations, they are told to always answer emails, etc., - there are no additional benefits apart from the basic salary, - the communication between people in the office (especially vertically) is almost nonexistent, issues are left unresolved, eventually erupting as huge conflicts, - confidential employee data is shared freely, - the company has no set of internal values, the management has very little experience in managing actual human beings, so sometimes (intentionally or not) the workforce is treated like trash, bullying, shouting and forcing people to leave is quite common, - people are given tasks without any consideration for their skills, talents or wishes, and they are frequently replaced by something completely different, even on a weekly basis, - there is no social activity or events, - very little respect for employees' work-life balance
