Pros
In the main, the key workers are friendly and approachable. The company client base is SME, although the target growth area for Mirus is to branch out to middle sized clients which they have done with limited success. Mirus are investors in people which means they look after their staff (what a joke!). The company Finance /HR Director is down to earth and friendly. The company encourages staff to take part in sporting events such as bike runs and annual an boat race. They offer a two week technical training course to engineers – questionable if this is ever honoured and when it is engineers are tied into a further years employment or they are forced to pay if they leave within a year of taking the course. 20 days’ holiday. If you work exceptionally hard and receive excellent feedback from clients and staff alike the company rewards you with a, wait for it, 'a lottery scratch card!' lol.
Cons
This company tries to rule through fear and control but it immensely fails as staff do not buy into this unless they’ve been whipped into shape over years of brain washing and torture! As a result of this there is a huge staff turnover. During my two year painfull stint I saw approx. 50 staff (out of 85) leave within different departments but mainly Helpdesk and Engineer staff. When questioned on staff turn-over there is every excuse under the sun other than the truth which is that the staff are under constant pressure to perform and deliver with unrealistic targets and pointless KPI and measures. At the time of me leaving staff mural was at an all-time low with major people feeling undervalued and undermined. Before considering this role, ask yourself a couple of questions: 1. Are you desperate? 2. Are you someone who likes to be blamed and used as a scapegoat (via their so-called root cause analysis process)? 3. If you are concerned about your general wellbeing? 4. Made to feel worthless? 5. If you are sick the company will NOT pay you unless you've been employed for over 3 years 6. You will recieve 30mins for lunch but Sales and Management receive 1 hour! 7. Travel between sites and accountability is closely monitored and tracked - big brother style! 8. Door entry into the building is clocked and monitored for staff - they claim it's for health and safety! 9. CCTV operates within the the confineds of the building 10. If you undergo training, your locked into another year else you'll be asked to pay up The list goes on.... Two words “stay clear!”
