Pros

Commitment to serving Western North Carolina, despite the cost to do so (reimbursement, low income communities). Physical and headcount growth and expansion. Generous PTO. On-site health clinic for staff (accidents and illness needs). A number of staff wellness initiatives

Cons

Top heavy and racially monolithic at the executive level. Large company, so slow to move on staffing needs.

Pros

Great nurses, resilient community, many leadership growth opportunities, large hospital with many specialties, the only level 1 trauma center in WNC.

Cons

The hours are very challenging. often 5am to 6pm M-F. No additional compensation for extra hours, nights, or on-call weekends. You must love the work, and have minimal need for work-life balance to enjoy working here.
