Pros
There is a strong union. The pay, vacation, and benefits are higher than most legal service providers, but this is all thanks to the hard fights the union has waged against upper management.
Cons
High caseloads, a slavish devotion to an elitist/classist culture, snobbish lawyers from privileged backgrounds who sadly believe that the non-profit industrial complex and never-ending reforms are going to eliminate poverty and change the world. No opportunity for work/life balance even though they'll tell you that you can voice your opinions about being overworked.
