Pros
Warm, inclusive, and supportive culture and high level of professionalism, although I’m sure it varies a little by department.
Cons
There is a six credit limit for adjuncts per semester and no “foot in the door” leading to a full-time professorship. Adjunct pay is low even though there is a great deal of work in addition to showing up to teach the class. I make about $15/hr for teaching and I have several advanced degrees including a PhD. Working as an adjunct can be very isolating.
