Pros

The staff I worked with are hard working and lovely people I have the pleasure of working with. They deserve a lot more!!

Cons

Where to begin! Head office was awful! Setting unrealistic targets, no recycling in place, push management out, and no HR!! No perks, the site I worked at we weren’t allowed coffee we Had to supply our own milk, have a limited menu. But other sites can have whatever they want?! Breaks only offered if you work Over 6hours. Rota changing less and a day with no notice and holidays ignored. Never worked anywhere that keeps kitchen open up to the close. Close at 4, someone comes in at 3:50 you Have to seat them. Meaning you stay later, which would be fine!! But managers would get told off if staff stayed later than rotated meaning next time you’re in you’ll be sent home early… Working on the bar alone on a busy weekend was stressful! Constantly asking for help to be ignored. Coffee machine broken, a broken glass wash which means everything had to be hand wash, unable to keep up with health standards and slowing down service. One day in summer the kitchen extraction fan broke. Fairly sure that’s illegal? Finally rumours in HR of Zionism and homophobia has been going round for a while. They don’t care about your mental health, seeing a staff member have a server panic attack and HRs respond was to ‘just work through it’ was appalling!! They clearly have no respect for staff members

Pros

The working hours and the team you work with daily

Cons

How "head office" operate is possibly the worst I've have ever experienced or heard of. They justify their wage by micro-managing via WhatsApp, but when they are not sitting in their cushty office somewhere they take up a table in the corner of the restaurant tapping away on their laptop and will occasionally bark orders at staff who have run around the shop floor for hours, doing twice the work due to cutting labour. They love giving you pointless and ineffective tasks to complete by 'end of day' when you are managing a restaurant and also working a section also due to cutting labour. They also do not respect your time, 10 minutes before you are done with your close they will turn up for a quick chat and keep you for well over an hour so this is not the job if you have a life outside of work or have any timely commitments. They honestly talk the talk but cannot walk the walk, no clue what is going on in the store and make your job 10 times harder than what it should ever be. Again they try to justify their wage in any way they can from sitting on their backsides all day and will absolutely not physically do some work to help the teams in stores. Diabolical excuse of a "HR" also, do not think about joing this company if you expect equality and formal procedures. If you also value your legal uninterrupted breaks this isn't the company for you. There are no staff facilities at all, not even an office for legal documents and then Head Office complain when staff need to put their belongings in the storage area? If they looked after their staff at all I believe this would be an okay place to work. It honestly drained the life out of me slowly I'm surprised I lasted as long as I did.

Pros

Same as most of these reviews, the pros are the team we work with, the team we get to know, the team who check in on each other. They are genuinely some of the best people I’ve had the pleasure of working alongside.

Cons

I’m not going to blame a selective few on how things are going at Moose. Because it’s not just one or two at head office. It comes from the absolute top, because clearly for years this has been consistently getting worse hasn’t it? And for what? At what cost? Squeezing every single last penny out of customers, practically begging for an extra portion of sausages?! Really? Ignoring all bookings systems in which were implemented by you. Coming into stores to “support” in which you either sit in the corner tapping away on your laptop looking at your calendars wondering how else will you waste the day. Or you’ll bark orders at the team, ask one thing then demand the next. Literally run around doing what I don’t know. I think you forget the team are majority of students who are here for extra money whilst studying, you expect so very much from people and yet pay so little. But you do explain how the tips are such a bonus, yes from customers, not you. We always talk about toxic culture and how it’s bad and unhealthy, yet you relish in this. As a company yes money and profit will always have to be the very top of the priority, but to achieve this we have to work together. We are all human. People have families, lives and passions of their own, moose is not the be all and end all. It’s a real shame what you are allowing your environment and business become, but sadly this happens all too often. You get a culture of power mad vultures who take great pleasure in making life as difficult as possible for the little guys. And for that… I’m out ✌🏼
