Pros
Able to work with team
Cons
Cannot take leave during peak festive
Pros
NONE. I believe respectful leadership, proper communication, and basic professionalism are essential for a healthy working environment. Unfortunately, these were lacking throughout my experience there.
Cons
Early in my tenure, I observed several concerning issues regarding management culture, operations, and the overall working environment. 1. NO meaningful training or professional development that you could realistically carry forward into future careers. No career progression, low pay with high workload. Look else where if you're looking for a stepping stone. 2. The company will hire anyone that is human (their words not mine), because they only want Chinese speaking staff who isn't scare of funeral services. Speak Chinese or you'll get targeted. 3. Senior leadership lacked the professionalism, communication skills, and people-management capabilities expected of a modern corporate environment. Many functions felt administrative rather than strategic, with employees expected to follow instructions without meaningful input. 4. During the hiring process, concerns about aggressive management behaviour were acknowledged by COO rather than addressed, which raised concerns about the workplace culture. 5. Certain managers frequently communicated in an aggressive and confrontational manner. Public shouting, intimidation, and excessive micromanagement contributed to a stressful and demoralising work environment. 6. Employee mistakes or concerns were sometimes discussed openly in front of other colleagues rather than being handled privately and professionally, creating an atmosphere of embarrassment and distrust. 7. Staff were often expected to adapt to unpredictable mood swing from management and shifting expectations. This created an environment where employees felt they had to constantly walk on eggshell. 8. Employees hired for administrative positions could be reassigned to operational duties outside their original job scope for extended periods without clear indication of the exact job scope of the operational duties. 9. Support from management was inconsistent, while employees were still expected to meet demanding deadlines and work beyond normal hours when required while superior finds excuses to leave job early/ not stay at their desk when needed. 10. Staff were frequently expected to compensate for management skill gaps rather than receiving guidance and support from leadership, ie: write all the higher management's English email while your superior watches. 11. New employees were expected to deliver results quickly despite limited onboarding, training, resources or documented processes. Mistakes were often attributed to employee shortcomings rather than insufficient guidance. 12. The department's culture was highly hierarchical and resistant to feedback. Decisions were often imposed without meaningful discussion or collaboration - "manager's way or the highway" kind of mentality. 13. Workplace gossip and office politics appeared widespread. Employees could find themselves affected by interpersonal conflicts or reputational issues unrelated to their own performance because they were working under certain managers. 14. Some managers demonstrated excessive fault-finding (nitpick) and scrutiny rather than focusing on coaching, development, or problem-solving. 15. Concerns raised to seniors often received limited support. Employees were generally expected to resolve workplace challenges independently, even when those challenges stemmed from broader cultural issues. 16. Accessibility is challenging for employees without personal transportation.
Pros
Good and friendly colleagues, senior willingness to help, free drinks and snacks
Cons
Limited career opportunities for IT industry as it more focuses more on sales and marketing.
