Pros
Visiting Faculty are expected to deliver 45 hours of lectures over the course of the semester. The faculty in charge of lecture scheduling is very helpful. He will try his best to reschedule your lectures to accomodate your timings.
Cons
There are plenty of Cons if you join as a visiting faculty. I list only a few from my own experience. Pay: The biggest con is that the institute will NOT PAY you on time. They onboard you without signing a legal contract. During this process they will assure you of prompt payment of the full amount after the semester ends. They will ask for your PAN details for vendor creation etc. This is a LIE. This process is just to present an illusion that they are professional. Throughout the semester, they will expect you to be prompt and professional in meeting all the university deadlines. The minute you upload the final grades, they are done with you. They WILL NOT PAY you the full amount, no matter what you do. If you make pointed enquiries, they will just go silent. Be assured, you will NOT be paid. The next semester, they will find another faculty to take the same subject. DO NOT JOIN this place as a visiting faculty if you expect to be paid for your services. If you are in a desperate financial situation, do NOT start teaching unless they transfer atleast half the amount upfront. On the off chance that they do agree to this arrangement, do not expect to be paid the entire balance amount. Students: The students attend lectures only to chalk off attendance. If you remove the attendance criteria, less than 5 students out of 60 will regularly attend classes. The students also wish to obtain good marks without studying. When it comes to examinations, they expect to be spoonfed both the questions and the answers before the exam. Even if you manage to do this, they will copy from each other during their term examinations. Even if you turn a blind eye to this rampant malpractise, most of them will not be able to obtain the passing grade without significant leniency on your part. If you do not give them passing grade, they will approach the Vice Chancellor saying that you are incompetent. I have never seen such entitled and yet such incapable students anywhere else. Dealing with them is just a waste of time. This applies to the majority of students, not all. Like every place, this institute too has a few good students per batch.
