Pros

Travel time can be an easy float for hours. You can work outdoors most days.

Cons

Hours are wildly in consist you could work 50 hours one week and 10 hours the rest of the month. Their are expectation for employees to travel up to eight hours to and from a jobsite within a day no notice. There is no scheduled work week, hours are given by text message at any hour of the day ranging from during the work day to 9 pm the night before or 5 am the morning of. Employer employee relation are nonexistent with upper management just hiring as many people as they can to fills gaps as people leave. Work varies from environmental related tasks to whatever odds and ends the need to be done for one their 20 different branches of business they own and operate.

Pros

Some genuinely great people work here. Company has a long history and is intertwined with the community in a meaningful way. Benefits are pretty good, pay really depends on where you are in the company. Corporate culture is strong, if you’re into that sort of thing (community events, family type environment)

Cons

New president (not the owner) is all over the place and extremely questionable. I cannot stress this enough. As far as flexibility and progressive work policies: NOCO is going in the absolute wrong direction. When I started, NOCO required 3 in-office days per week. It then went to 4, and I’d wager it will be 5 soon. The company is most notable for a business they are no longer in (gas stations). Ask anyone around Buffalo what NOCO is and they will almost always say, “oh, the gas stations?” NOCO has too many lines of business/divisions for a company of their size. Most of these can be seen on their website.
