Pros

Excellent training program, one of the few programs that meets national standards for public safety communications. A culture of employees that take care of each other - essential in this line of work. Excellent delivery of service to citizens and partner agencies. Beautiful view of downtown Bellevue & Mount Rainier.

Cons

Staffing challenges for emergency telecommunicators. Unfortunately the industry has a high turnover rate. Even if NORCOM performs better than industry standards, there will be a lot of turnover - not the right career for everyone. Work/Life balance is challenging, as there is lots of overtime that is required to be filled. For some, this is great, but not the case for everyone.

Pros

Work is rewarding. Good money.

Cons

Toxic management. Deputy Director act like he runs the place and the executive director allows it. If you bring up concerns about other people being dangerously incompetent, you get tagged for bullying.
