Pros
- Work environment and people. Friendly and fun. No concerns about drama or politics, just a close knit team that works together.
- Dog friendly! I have not owned a dog yet, but coworkers bring theirs for visits.
- Variety of technical work. We have customers within several fields, which means exposure to a lot of different kinds of software and technology needs.
- Subject matter expertise is encouraged and training provided. Not everyone will have the same expertise, but the knowledge is shared to give everyone the opportunity to grow.
- A lot of our work can be cone from a central office and we can remote into the client site.
Cons
- Variety of technical work. I will admit the downside to this is that we sometimes have to memorize a lot of different technologies to keep our clients happy. It can be overwhelming sometimes, which is why it is important to have a close knit team and rely on documentation.
- Sometimes we can feel too remote from our clients or the rare client is several hours away, leaving us without the ability to say "let's just get onsite" without some consideration.
