Pros

The have 3 seperate divisions, selling cancer and similar supplemental insurance policies on payroll deduction, to Teachers, Government Agency Employees and Emergency Services. They dont hassle you as a sales rep, so you make your own plans, appointments and schedule..but it is a requirement to cover all the customers in the territory assigned to you. They pay timely, they pay as agreed.

Cons

Net income is the downside. It takes a little explaning. The "assigned" accounts they provide all require driving to get to- which doesnt sound like a big deal, except that they require 1-2-3-4 hours of driving, every day. And, since you pay ALL expenses, your expenses are assured every day. But income is definitely not assured. So, you spend the money. Thats for sure. And then you drive and find out if anyone will actually show up to your meeting to buy more insurance from their paycheck. If they do show up, you have a chance to sell them- Unless they are uninsurable, which are mostly who shows up to ask about insurance. The competitors, and past NTA reps who have come before you, have prety much cherry picked. You might get lucky here and there, one person or another. One poilcy here, one there. I found it involved, on average, 3- 4 hours of daily driving (wearing on your tires, back, car etc) and putting a minimum of $30 of gas in it every day. And, about $30 in lunch costs per day whch comes out of YOUR pocket. They claim to be "endorsed" but that generally means that you are "endorsed" (allowed) to sit in a breakroom or lunchroom or conference room for 2-4 hours after the driving, in hope that someone will come in, and want to discuss insurance, to take out of their paycheck. I found it was costing me as much or more than I was making and the opportunities to actually sell arent really there. Many other companies with with better branding are also "endorsed", coming into the same places. oftern the day before, or the day after, youre there. Summary is, it sounds like a great gig, but the reality is very different, beause theres no real money in it, and plenty of time and expense, few stay for very long. Those who stay are managers who keep the renewals when you leave.
