Pros
Advantages working at Number 16 as an English teacher in Spain means - that you are employed all year round and - receive vacation days - with a steady salary
Cons
- They will promise you that you'll work only x amount of hours but it never works like that, you will always do more and if not you will always be preparing for classes in your free time, at any given time you could be given an extra class and you have no choice in the matter even if that means you started work at 8am and they give you another class to do at 8pm. At one point I was working more than 12 hours a day, and while i was guide teacher I was dealing with Whatsapp's from 6am to 12am, this is not an exaggeration. They will do company classes that start at 8am and teachers need to travel there at 7 and if someone is sick or has forgotten something, they're asking you questions and you're managing it from that time. - Your vacation days can only be taken when they tell you, so if youre from a country outside of europe and you want to go home and visit family and you dont want to do it in august or december, forget it, youre dreaming. - you never know when you will work on a Saturday and it could change at any minute - they will force you to stand on your feet all day and you are not allowed to wear sneakers - they will force to to teach classes that you dont know how to teach and then tell you that youre not doing a good job, but they dont train you. - whenever the bosses come from Zaragoza it is extremely toxic and hostile. - they are sexist, ageist and a few more "ists", they're just completely small minded. Examples of this are, they will hire you, if you look good and you're young (this is also beneficial to them because usually you're less experienced with living in another country and you are unaware of what your working rights should be, they will use that to their advantage especially if you're british and need a visa to be there, they will lie to you). - the "steady" salary is always received later than it legally should be received in Spain, so if you have to pay rent by the 1st of the month, you are dreaming, you will always pay your land lord late. - At one point a union was formed by a group of teachers, when the company found out they fired every single one of them within an hour, illegally. - In regards to receiving the classes, the method is great for learning quickly but it is not for everyone. you will not receive the same quality for every class, the company does not care about your education, they only care about your money. go somewhere else, its more expensive than others anyway. - I have spent a lot of time now trying to help teachers who work there to find a different job as the toxic environment has caused a lot of mental health problems for alot of the people I worked with.
