Pros
You get a company vehicle. Pay generally is 10% less than industry standard. Here's how the company works. Company is actually owned by Qualtek. This done so if a lawsuit or problem with construction ever occurs NX (Valued at 1 million) is liable instead of Qualtek (Valued at 1 billion). NX Utilities has changed its named multiple times because of this. It used to Next Connection and something else even before that. It a lawsuit occurs, everything closes up shop and gets renamed so all reviews and valuation disappear and a new company magically appears. This is a common trick used by construction companies. Headquarters in Philadelphia - Micro offices all over USA Contracts get acquired at Philadelphia, then they create these micro offices in whatever city the work needs to be completed.
Cons
Problem is they get contracts in cities all over US and create these micro offices to complete work instead of flying out experienced employees to the cities. The second there is no work in your city, your laid off. Took you over a month to get the job that will only last 6 months at best. Its cheaper to lay you off, and hire an inexperienced worker in the city where the new contract is than fly and house you there. If one mistake occurs your laid off, even if its not your fault. It cost the company money, so you cost yourself your job. Essentially your insurance coverage went up a small amount, so its easier to put a different employees anme on the insurance plan. Its a terrible business practice that doesn't make sense, in construction mistakes happen, its inevitable. Everyone is a contractor, even if your title says NX after it. One day you'll call your warehouse manager, when the next his phone is dead and hes laid off. Why, you'll never get an answer to that question? Every employee is constantly wondering when they are going to lose their job, which leads to horrible morale and a general lack of who gives a hell about the current project and the next project, because your just going to get let go, so why put any effort into anything other than saving every penny on your paycheck. When I was hired there were 30 workers in my city. 6 months later, there were 3 of us left. That's frightening for me to type.
