Pros

Free coach travel even though it’s very situational.

Cons

Horrible shift patterns that completely destroy your circadian rhythm, drain you, and make you miserable. Say goodbye to your personal life. Management are incompetent and treat their staff like garbage. You’ll find yourself working alone amongst drunks and drug addicts - what a safe environment to be in! They give you no support, so prepare to be alone. Staff turnover is crazy for a reason. The frontline staff are treated like fodder - we aren’t treated as human. It’s honestly a disgrace how they treat us, and they give terrible pay with no extra pay on Sundays or bank holidays. Very few benefits in return, and they wonder why everyone hates the job and leaves. To top it off, if you want career progression and try to move up through the company, forget about it. Your manager will block your application because he’s such a lazy, jealous, arrogant fool that he can’t bear to see you better yourself and possibly end up earning more than him. Pathetic.

Pros

Structured days, so you know what to expect before you arrive. No one looking over your shoulder. You obviously need to work within company guidelines and all applicable laws but essentially you have autonomy over your day. Traffic, awkward customers or vehicle reliability issues are part of the job but really bad days pretty rare overall. Overtime is paid if your shift runs long and extra shifts are often available to those who want them.

Cons

Bad traffic happens. The customer base is mostly fine but definitely includes chancers, blaggers and the outright rude. The most popular 'day-time' rotas are full of long-term staff so new starters to end up working the more anti-social hours.
