Pros

Benefits. Fun people to work with. Just added Juneteenth as a paid holiday.

Cons

Where do I start?? Upper management DOES NOT and WILL NOT value you as employee. They operate with a “shut up and do your work” mentality, lowering employee morale. The company boasts on being a “family” and “doing good” but doesn’t care about our opinions. Turnover is at an all time high right now because everyone wants to continue to work remotely, but our execs want to continue to “transition” back into the office. Everyone in the call center quit because of this, and now they’re requiring other departments who lack call center experience and training to pick up the slack. Diversity only exists at the lowest level. There is little diversity in upper management as well as in our Montpelier, VT campus. In fact, the company will use the same 4 BIPOC to represent and promote diversity in the company. You can’t be realistic when talking negatively about certain things because you will not be considered a “team player.” I’m only still here because rent is due, and even that isn’t enough since the pay is horrible. Oh and growth in this company? Nonexistent, especially at the Addison, TX campus. Be prepared to stay in the same place for x amount of years with terrible raises/bonuses.

Thank you for this review. It’s critical for us to hear all feedback – especially when it’s tough. I do not want anyone working at National Life to feel like this, it’s not who we are. As the Chief People Officer, I hope you will give me the opportunity to speak with you in more detail about your review. My door is always open and I’m available when you are – I will make sure any concerns you have get to the right people. – Michael Veilleux

Pros

Good pay, nice people to work with but as a consultant I feel a bit on the "outside".

Cons

Every single person that is an Executive Vice President is a man with the only woman being the CEO's Executive Assistant. Clearly you can see there is a distinct "known" here at this company.

We recognize that diversity has historically been an issue in our industry. However, if you look at our corporate board, we're actively working to diversify and will continue to make sure we consider all aspects. We will always focus on adding the most qualified talent to all of our roles across the entire organization. If you would like to connect further regarding this, I would welcome the opportunity to talk. - Michael Veilleux, Chief People Officer
