Pros
Decent paycheck and decent work hours.
Cons
You learn nothing that is marketable in a private sector setting; it's very specific to the awkward, backward ways the federal government conducts its business. I left for the private sector after seven years, and I learned more in the first six months in my new position than I learned in the entire time I spent with NAVAUD. There is very little interest among the experienced, long-time employees to further their skills/knowledge. They couldn't care less about upgrading their PC skills or acquiring professional certification, such as a CPA. The management is essentially missing in action. They couldn't care less about the competent, hardworking employees. Basically, they're just looking for idiots who won't cause any problems. There's very little work accomplished when you consider the number of employees available.
