Pros

At first everyone was friendly and welcoming. They said we would help raise the quality of childcare of some struggling centers which I wanted to do. If the organization wasn’t so toxic the job would be meaningful. We traveled frequently to neat locations for conferences and training.

Cons

A lot of the staff spoke negatively about the centers we worked in and the employees of those centers. Some of the comments shocked me. The salary is based on performance, which you think would motivate you but then they publicly rank whose the best and the worst. And it’s based on supervisor opinion. No one actually cares about early childhood. They lie to the department of early head start. They receive a lot of money from donors but don’t really spend it on the families.

NECC is committed to a positive, high performance culture that supports our mission. I am disappointed to hear about your experience. I am also deeply troubled by your allegations. I am aware of no wrongdoing on the part of any of our team members. At NECC, we encourage employees to report any suspected wrongdoing, and no such reports were made. I would encourage you to reach out directly to me, if you’d like to share more information.

Pros

The pay is good, but that's about it.

Cons

Here are the problems *Upper management target staff at both necc and oelc in an attempt to get them fired...when you look for dirt on people no matter how amazing they are you will find something *Gossip...seriously mean gossip about others within necc and the oelc is the norm...its worse than anything you experience in high school *upper management say really mean things about the teachers, directors and executive...they really seemed to hate the oelcs *Micromanage all staff...its terrible...people have cried at work more than once over the leadership style of managing *Bad mouth the elcs to other centers though I only know of 1 occurance of this however it's not ok since necc holds the elc grant. *Embarrass staff members IN meetings in front of others...this has occurred with Necc staff and to teachers at the elc...they like to humiliate *Pay increases are public within the company in a strange attempt to motivate but instead again humiliates staff *The work environment is toxic...everyone is so mean to each other...either you adapt and take part or they get rid of you *highest management doesnt seem to care and seems to perpetuate the toxic climate by taking part they also encourage terminations of elc staff when they shouldnt be involved *seriously one of the meanest companies I've ever worked for the great pay isnt worth the stress I would tell everyone considering this company to avoid it which is sad

Thank you for the feedback. While it is difficult to tell from your post, it sounds like you may have been employed with one of our partners, and not by NECC. Either way it is evident that you did not have a good experience and that is unfortunate. Nebraska Early Childhood Collaborative is a shared services provider and child care partner for the OELC. To clarify, these are two separate organizations. Because of this close partnership, we understand where there could be some misconception as to which organization is responsible for operating the centers. Personally, I like that you mentioned hiring people who are kind and who care. NECC is committed to recruiting talented people with those attributes, to continue the mission of providing quality early education for our communities.
